It will be so much more than just a recipe book! This book will come with heirloom vegetable seeds and step by step instructions that will enable each reader to be able to grow some of their very own nutritious organic ingredients for creating the recipes within the book.

The recipes were inspired by seasonal garden abundances, ancient cultures, nutritional synergy and will also include some family favorites. This book will bring together information, knowledge as well as methods to save seeds from garden harvests so each reader can grow an abundance of delicious and nutritious organic produce for themselves year after year . This book will also offer step by step instructions in how to use leftovers, discards and yard waste as tools to build soil, cultivate heirloom crops, increase resilience and cultivate seasons of seeds to save. It will be about seeds, both literally, and figuratively, as the book itself will contain the knowledge which allows it to serve as a seed to initiate a self-perpetuating cycle of abundance (and potentially enable many to save money on groceries in the process.)

This ‘seed to table’ recipe book is an embodiment of hope for tomorrow because it means looking forward to that harvest, cooking that amazing meal and sharing it with our loved ones. This book is also about “nourishing roots” (both figuratively and literally). It focuses on planting the seeds in the earth as well as planting the seeds for forming a new kind of relationship with our food and the land it comes from. In this book I will be exploring concepts such as permaculture, reciprocity, nature based spirituality and bio-remediation. It is about nourishing the roots of plants that provide food and nourishing the roots of culture and tradition through culinary creative expression.

The root of the word Culture is derived from the Latin Cultura, (stemming from “colere”) meaning “to cultivate”. When we cultivate the land and then harvest the resulting abundance, we inevitably have to find creative ways to prepare, cook and preserve that abundance. The resulting recipes form traditions that become part of the foundation of a culture. This book is more than just a recipe book. It is a seed… a seed that can become the roots of self-reliance, taking responsibility for our ecological footprint, self-care, preventative medicine through nutrition and reconnecting to mother earth through reciprocity.. showing us how to work with natural cycles and reap the gifts that result from that which we have sown.

In essence, this book will be the seed for a closed cycle that has the potential of regenerating/building soil, saving the reader money on groceries and providing them with the confidence and peace of mind that comes from growing one’s own food and knowing how to prepare and preserve it.

Throughout my 15 years gardening (and over 20 years cooking) I have created and gathered a number of recipes that allowed me to make use of seasonal abundances and make something delicious, nutritious and fun in the process. These recipes have helped define what helps us get through the days, months, and years. Many of the recipes are comfort foods that invoke a feeling of home and belonging. They offer glimpses into the past (both recent and distant) and offer hope for the future (through the knowing we can create and share them again and again). It is my wish to share this feeling of comfort and belonging with all of you and my it is my hope that the seeds contained within this book will offer abundance (in food and health) and lasting contentment through the act of nurturing, creating, sharing and giving back to the earth from once we came.

Through supporting this book, you will be investing in the Earth and believing in a brighter future worth working towards with our hands and our hearts. The path towards regenerating our world and our health is at our fingertips, all it takes is a handful of seeds and some TLC.

I am very excited to be able to share this book with the world. I look forward to connecting with many gardeners and food lovers after the book is launched so we can continue to share new recipes, gardening ideas and inspiring stories as we all co-create a more regenerative future together.
